Porc Family Connection | New Hampshire
Looking to connect with other families that share values such as peaceful parenting and the Non-Aggression Principle? Want to learn about new and exciting homeschooling/unschooling opportunities? Do you enjoy nature walks, museum visits, indoor/outdoor playground excursions, and countless other fun events constantly being organized around New Hampshire? Look no further than the Porc Family Connection—a unique, decentralized network that encourages the sharing of information, support, and fun through cooperation and mutual aid, including play dates, childcare exchange, clothing hand-me-downs, and more!
Curious about the name? “Porc” is short for porcupine, an animal that has become synonymous with FSP Movers and the liberty movement as a whole. Porcupines are peaceful creatures that become defensive when subjected to aggression; their sharp quills are used in self-defense only as a last resort.
The Porc Family Connection group also joins together to help members of their community during times of need. When someone welcomes a new baby into the world, or if someone’s significant other is called away for work travel, for example, the PFC community will step up and offer to help with meal preparation, running errands, childcare, or just lending a hand around the house.
New Hampshire families and friends are encouraged to join the Porc Family Connection group on Facebook. New events and discussions are being posted all the time, and group members are encouraged to become active in the group, perhaps by creating a fun informal meetup at the park or by asking for feedback on popular homeschooling programs, for example.
Porc Family Connection at Liberty Forum & PorcFest
The Free State Project hosts two large gatherings each year—Liberty Forum & PorcFest—and thankfully Porc Family Connection has a big presence at both. This way, families can still attend and catch a little bit of everything without worrying about their young ones!
NH Liberty Forum is an annual convention-style conference that features interactive workshops, fun & educational events, and more. This year’s Liberty Forum takes place from February 18-21, 2016 at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester, NH; there’s quite an impressive lineup of speakers booked, including NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden!
And all Liberty Forum attendees are invited to meet like-minded friends through the Porc Family Connection room on Friday & Saturday, Feb 19-20, from 9 am–6 pm! Join PFC for the Make-Your-Own Ice Cream Sundae Party on Friday afternoon, the PFC Pizza Party lunch on Saturday, or just stop by anytime for a place to relax or play. The Porc Family Connection room will be filled with toys and games for kids, and experienced childcare providers will be available on Friday & Saturday from 10am–noon and 2pm–4pm, as well as during the first annual Liberty in Action Awards Dinner ceremony on Saturday night. Childcare services are available on a donation/“pay what feels right” basis.
Family-centered discussions at Liberty Forum include:
- Community Life in the Free State with Chris Dunn
- Applying the Non-Aggression Principle to Children with Constance Spencer
- No Child Left Alone: Getting the Government Out of Parenting with “Captain Mommy” Abby Schachter
- Educational Freedom in K-12 with Professor Angela Dills
- Stand Up & Unschool with Mark Beaumont
- School Choice Luncheon with Michelle Levell
- Math Education in the Free State with Dr. Darren Tapp
The Porcupine Freedom Festival (aka PorcFest) is a weeklong celebration of freedom and community taking place June 19-26, 2016 in beautiful Lancaster, NH. An expected 2,000 attendees will be enjoying this one-of-a-kind camping event, filled with activities for families and individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Campfires, panel discussions, presentations, movies, live talk shows, dancing, singing, music, food, parties, and more! More details coming as they develop!
These incredible events showcase New Hampshire, explore liberty-oriented ideas, and inform attendees about the activism of individual participants taking place in the “Live Free or Die” state. We hope to see you at one or both of them, or better yet, we’d rather see you move to New Hampshire for good!
